Duke of Wellington signature for sale. Wellington's ink signature on an envelope (lower-left corner), with additional writing by The Duke, including the receiving address and date (in full).

The envelope with off-red 'Freepost' hand stamp, black ink hand-stamp of the accepting office, and a black wax stamp bearing the Duke of Wellington crest.

Condition report: The envelope  cut down in size close to the writing, and signs to the reverse of  been  previously attached to an autograph album. The Duke of Wellington signature good and clear, similarly the ink writing very clear. The wax seal intact.

Note: As a politician, Wellington was allowed to use 'Freepost' which as the term implies, meant there was no charge incurred to send- or receive the mail: the sender (in this instance The Duke of Wellington), was however obliged to sign any mail before its dispatch.
