related to The Duke of Wellington and killed in action

at The Battle of Waterloo.'

 


A group of Waterloo-related documents for sale.The ink, hand-written case notes dated 1844 regarding the will to a member of the Sykes family. The Waterloo-related documents include 20, hand-written pages thereabouts, plus a single, copy-document being a hand-written family tree confirming the relationship to the Duke of Wellington.

 

Page 5 confirms:

 ‘The marriage between Mr Michael Sykes & Miss Mary Cain took effect & there

was issue thereof 13 children, but the eldest born son, John, having been killed

at the Battle of Waterloo on the 18th June 1815

(he died unmarried & intestate), the next son Joseph therefore became the

eldest son. 1 of the younger children…”


Condition report: The pages cut in half, with light folds in places, and yellowing to the edges. The first page to the document group, shows more use c.f.  other pages.
