A group of three, WWI British Medals for sale, complete with ribbons and interesting provenance. The medal group includes;

1914 Mons Star with Bar
War Medal
Victory Medal with MID leaf

In addition to the medals, the sale includes:

Spier's diary dating from August 1914 to April 1915.
Citation, with original envelope, stating:


"in arranging for the wounded men to be attended to, and the remainder sent to a place of safety, during an air raid, when wounded yourself."

Condition report: The medal group un-cleaned, and with pleasing patination. The silk ribbons original to the medals, and showing some use. The three medals remaining on a medal bar as worn. The citation with centre fold (now split), the diary with some loose pages.

Note: Lieutenant Spier is shown as one of the first officers (55 in total) who joined as a Founder Member of the first Intelligence Service in August 1914. Spier and the other officers sailed from Southampton on 12th August 1914.
