Additional notes: Cotton's Waterloo Museum achieved great fame, and anyone visiting the Waterloo battlefield in the 19th century, would not only visit the museum, but would probably pay to have Cotton take them on a tour of the battlefield himself. After his death, the museum was largely broken up. Today, much of the Cotton collection resides within the National Army Museum, London, but just occasionally the odd Waterloo related artifact, with Cotton provenance, will hit the market, causing some excitement.
