Captain Baldwin Leighton, Shrewsbury Yeomanry Cavalry [1820-1830]. The brass shoulder scales with mercuric gilt plating, with frosted and polished effects.
Both shoulder scales with a mercuric gilt officer-quality Shrewsbury Yeomanry button. The scales, typically, attached to a leather base from the underside, and in turn to red and black velvets. Complete with their original uniform ties, and white labels bearing the ink dedications, 'Leighton - Sweeney - Oswestry'.
Extremely rare early Victorian examples showing light use overall (some distress to the leather base, one metal bullion missing).
Note: Captain Baldwin Leighton retired from the Shrewsbury Yeomanry Cavalry in 1830 and died on 19th November 1834 age 63. His seat was Sweeney Hall, Oswestry. His brother, Francis Leighton was a Lieutenant-Colonel, and Major in the Shrewsbury Yeomanry Cavalry.
