The sword is an early solid nickle-silver Dan Krebs example, from the mid-1930s. The sword with solid nickel-silver fittings throughout. The top hilt-capping unscrews to reveal the standard 'stepped' fitting to the inside. This style being typical for the manufacture of SS swords. The capping with the fine hand-engraved initials, PG'. To the reverse  of the nickle-silver top band is the hand-engraved name, 'Paul Geisler', along with his SS membership number '127 020'.

The black ebony grip, highlighted with 13 nickle-silver metal bands. The nickle-silver Runes disc fitted to the centre. The underside to the  hilt shows the SS Rune symbol within an octagon shape.

The blade in polished steel, and being of the earliest manufacture, has the Dan Krebs name and logo.  To the top of the blade a typical white leather washer still in position. The scabbard with black painted shell. The nickel-silver top mount bearing the SS Rune symbol within an octagon shape. The bottom nickel-silver plated fitting correctly pressed into position. The sword is complete with its original SS officers silver wire portepee, bearing the black silk RZM / SS label with a 1937 date code. The sword retained within its original brown leather sword bag, along with a grey suade interior lining. The sword bag with typical scalloped top edgte decoration, and fastening string. Painted in white to the bag, is the name of the American officer, Captain Minton, who brought the sword back from Germany back at the end of the war.

Condition report: The  SS officer sword remains in excellent overall condition throughout. The nickel-silver mounts with darkened recesses. The ebony grip showing just light use use. The white leather, hilt-to-blade washer with light age. The blade in excellent overall condition, with the original polished steel finish  being generally free from any unsightly pitting or graying. The Dan Krebs name and logo clear. The scabbard shell near perfect (approximately 95% original black paint finish remaining). The silver portepee showing some general wear and use.

Additional notes: Paul Geisler joined the SS in 1934 as an SS-Untersturmführer. By 1938 he had obtained the rank of SS-Obersturmbannführer, and was on the Staff of the SS-Totenkopfverbände. By 1944, Geisler held the rank of SS-Standartenfüher. Geisler was a Blood Order holder. The consigner has also employed historian, Ross Kelbaugh, to put together a history file on Geisler, which also includes a photo. The file forms a part of the sale.

Provenance: Purchased in the USA from the veteran's family, at a motel buy held in the 1990s. Sold to a collector, and remaining in that collection until 2014, at which time it was consigned to ULRIC of ENGLAND. We are delighted to offer this sword for sale again, along with other high quality items from this same collection, due to the vendor selling his collection, and moving into the commercial property market.
