Royal Navy 1816 pattern officers sword for sale. The sword with typical ivory wire-bound grip and gilted brass stylised lion head top. The lower guard with langets bearing the engraved Royal Navy anchor motif. The long straight steel blade with the Gills name to the leading edge. The scabbard with upper, centre and lower gilted brass mounts. The mounts with typical period scallop edges and horizontal lines. The scabbard shell in dark brown / black leather.

Condition report: The ivory grip aged and with a couple of small splits at the base. The fittings showing light use, the mercuric gilt finish now gone. The blade in good order, free from any rusting or pitting, but generally dull in appearance. The scabbard leather hard, but intact. Free from any damage.
