Prussian Artillery ORs M1915 Pickelhaube

An M1915  pickelhaube for sale. The Prussian Artillery pickelhaube in good, un-tampered condition. The black-lacquered, leather shell, plus the leather visors to the front and rear, show some overall light age, and storage use.

The helmet-body has two holes for the Prussian front eagle-plate, which are grommeted in steel (there are also four other holes which have been plugged, closer together. The pickelhaube was most likely depot-refurbishised during the war).

Both original V-shaped leather wedges are intact.The stamped, matt grey oxidized steel Prussian front eagle-plate, and all other fittings show just minor wear from storage, except for the top of the ball where much of the grey has worn away.

Original Reich-cockade to the right side has lost most of the red paint, while the Prussian- cockade has just a couple of chips. Chinstrap is an original and shows its age. The  M195 Pickelhaube is lined with black, vegetable-tanned lamb skin leather, 9-finger liner. The leather is dry but solid and intact. 

There is an interesting ink-stamp to the rear visor "Jn.st. VII.A.K." (Instandsetzungsamt), repair depot, VII army corps. This would confirm the pickelhaube was refurbished during its life.
