The seated Duke of Wellington by Samuel Alcock for sale. The Duke  sitting in his frock coat in old age. The Duke of Wellington's seat with his ceremonial robes hanging over, and flowing down the back. To the front of the base, a raised cartouche with the crowned 'W' for Wellington. To the base, the full manufacturer's logo, showing Samuel Alcock as the publisher, with a date of 18th June 1852. Alfred Croequill, the designer, and G Abbott, the sculptuor.

 Size: 28.0 cm high. 

Condition report: Overall excellent condition, free from damage. 

Note: One of three known designs of Wellington sitting. This example (the largest of the three) shows the Duke of Wellington seated at the House of Lords.  The prototype of the statuette displayed by Alfred Croequill, at the annual Society of Civil Engineers, at which time it was greatly admired as an excellent likeness. This actual statuette, along with a full description was shown in the 11th September 1852 edition of The Illustrated London News.
