Kaisermarine (navy) Iron Cross 1st Class screwback for sale with original issue-case. The 1st Class, 1914-1918, cased Iron Cross, with silver rim, along with black painted iron centre. Reverse with central threaded post, large silver convexed disc, and threaded silver facsimile Kaisermarine button fastener. The back of the Iron cross with silver content number '800'.The high-quality, Iron Cross issue-case, in dark brown leatherette, detailing a silver, Iron Cross cartouche to the lid. The issue-case is lined with off-white silk to the lid, and fitted with a facsimile of the Iron cross 1st Class to the base.

Condition report: The Iron Cross in very good to excellent condition. The Iron Cross remaining uncleaned and with a pleasant patina. The case in very good condition with typical use to the hinge cover material, and the iron Cross emblem to the lid.

Note: This high quality example of the Iron Cross 1st Class was undoubtedly ordered by an officer of the Kaisermarine, and hence the Kaisermarine fouled anchor and crown motif to the fastener.
