A particularly rare Napoleonic vellum Officer's Commission Document for Lieutenant Thomas Labey, Jersey Militia. The document hand written begins, "By His Excellency George Don, Lieutenant General of His Majesty's Forces, Colonel of the 96th Regiment of Foot and Lieutnant Governor and Commander in Chief of the Island of Jersey, and of all the Forces, Forts and garrisons in the same....To Thomas Labey, Son of Thomas Gentleman.....", "...appoint you to second Lieutenant in the Third or East Regiment of Foot Militia of this Island where of Nicholas Messeroy (?), Esquire is Colonel." The commission dated the seventh day of july 1806.
