Dirty Dozen watch for sale made by Vertex, Switzerland, circa 1944. The WW2, Dirty Dozen, British Army service watch with large stainless steel, turned case (47mm x 37mm excluding crown), and contract, screw case-back.
Typical black dial with the Vertex trade-name, and War Department arrow. The dial with 1-12 hour digits, 60-second scale with luminous hour-marks. Subsidiary seconds-dial at 18.00 hrs.
To the reverse, the watch has a screw case-back with markings, War Department arrow, 'WWW A 684', and serial number; the inside to the case-back shows the same details. The high quality, 15-jewel movement with nicely-finished main bridges. The balance with screw-in weights. The Vertex name to the main wheel.
Condition report: Just light use only to the case. plexi-glass clear and free from adverse scratching. Dial excellent and original. Hands perfect and with original finish. Case-back particularly clean. Movement particularly clean and functioning. No warrany implied.
Condition status: Museum quality
Note: This example with a very low 'A' number, indicating it was included in one of the first consignments exported from Vertex, Switzerland, to the War Office, Engand.
