M1915 Ersatz pickelhaube for sale. The felt pickelhaube with all original grey oxidized steel fittings. The pickelhaube retains its original Prussian eagle-plate with unique 'WATERLOO' scroll. To the left side, the Prussian-cockade in near-perfect condition, to the right, and in similar condition, the  Reich-cockade (some minor loss to the red paint).

The M1915 pickelhaube with original leather chinstrap showing typical minor surface crazing. The felt body is in solid condition with just light moth-tracking. Both original V-shaped leather wedges holding the front plate remain in place.

The 8-finger lining, is the scarce, Ersatz paper-cloth lining, and is in excellent condition, with no damage or adverse wear.  A red "53" ink-stamp to the inside crown confirms the size, an ink-stamp to the rear visor  bearing a rectangle "BA 1915" and a rectangle shape with "74.R," to the centre [this being thee abbrevaition for the 1. Hannoversches Infanterie-Regt. Nr.74 (Hannover).

Note: The 74th was one of just three regiments, whose history may be traced  to the Battle of Waterloo, and were given the unique honour of carrying the 'Waterloo' scroll to their front plate.

An exceptionally rare, and un-tampered M1915 pickelhaube.
