Luftwaffe sword by E & F Horster Solingen, a beautiful early quality example
One of the nicest examples of the early Luftwaffe sword, complete with full nickel-silver mounts throughout. Stamped to the lower crossguard with Flight Training Unit 25 and individually numbered '33', the sword also bears the matching '33' numbers to the top of the scabbard mount. The numbers indicating that this sword would be loaned for use whilst on parade, and would be returned to stores afterwards. The sword has perfect blue grip leather and wire bounding, and the nickle-silver mounts survive in excellent condition with good bold sunwheel swastikas. The blade survives in close to mint condition and bears the full 'Hörster' name and logo, along with the Waffenamt mark. Likewise, the scabbard remains in near mint condition with the blue leather wrapping in excellent order with its grain still clear. The sword is complete with its rare belt leather hanger assembly.
