Luftwaffe Observer watch for sale by Laco. The case in grey anodised finish with the Fl 23883 designation to the side, and the Laco serial number 'H 15059' to the underside. The 2nd pattern black dial with inner 1-12 dial (with hour markers), and outer 0-60 second dial. The hands with luminous finish. The inside to the case-back with full Laco details panel. The movement bridges in mercuric gilt over brass. Copper wheels and ruby jewels. The balance fully adjustable. The observer watch complete with one section of the original leather strap, which has been converted to allow its use as a fob watch.

Condition report: Overall very good to excellent condition. The case very good to excellent condition. The dial excellent with the luminous numbers clear. The plexi-glass clean, clear and free from major scratches. The hands with blued edges and original luminous finish intact (the hour hand looks to have been relumed at the timeto give additional luminosity). The mercuric gilt plating bright and even. Movement functioning (no warranty implied).

Notes: This watch was taken by a member of the Soviet forces from the navigator of a captured German bomber crew during 1944. In 1945 he returned to his home in Uzbekistan. Cutting down the leather watch strap, he carried the watch as a fob watch until the 1990s. After his death, the watch was sold by the family.
