The New Hugo Boss Look

In 1934, Hitler's SS had a new uniform designed for them by leading fashion guru, Hugo Boss.  The new look was 'black' and at the time, the striking SS uniform was the one everyone wanted to be seen wearing, particularly members of the German royal households.

This Allgemeine-SS black visor cap epitomises the Hugo Boss look.

Item description: Allgemeine-SS peak visor cap  for sale. The SS-Allgemeine officer visor cap originally belonging to SS-Hauptsturmführer Dr. Otto Monckmeier. Bearing all the attributes of a cap made in the later 1930s,  it has the typically high-fronted saddle-shape, along with both the nickel-silver M1936 eagle, swastika and skull badges.

The  Allgemeine-SS peak visor cap is made from the highest quality black wool doeskin cloth, with white piping and black velvet capband. The eagle, swastika and skull badge insignia are both neatly positioned and firm.

The silver-aluminium capcords are secured by fine silver-aluminium pebble finish side buttons. The interior is of the ‘Standard Quality’ black silk lining, with a full celluliod diamond. A name tag bearing the name 'Dr. Monckmeier' is positioned within the celluliod panel. The dark brown leather sweatband hides the linen RZM/SS label  with the manufacturer code number ‘195’. The underside to the Allgemeine-SS peak visor cap is finished in medium brown, and also bears the RZM/SS black trademark.

Condition report: The SS hat is in close to mint condition throughout, and free from any moth or damage. The nickel-silver insignia has dulled slightly with age, and remains uncleaned. The visor showing faint age-related lines. Interior clean.

Notes: Born on the 2nd June 1899, Dr.Otto Monckmeier, joined the SS in 1935. By 1938 he held the rank of SS-Hauptsturmführer and was attached to the SS Rasse u.Siedlungs Hauptamt (Race & Resettlement Department).
