SS Officer 'silver hilt' sword for sale. The sword manufactured by the known maker of SS silver-hilts, E.Pack & Sohne. The sword with  heavy silvered oakleave hilt assembly, and with left facing eagle & swastika. The reverse of the hilt with silver langet bearing an enamel Runes insignia to the centre.The polished ebony grip with silver wire bands. The polished steel blade with E.Pack & Sohne name and logo. The scabbard with black painted shell.

Condition report: The sword  in overall very good condition. The grip free from  splits or other damage, and the silver wire bands tight. The silvered hilt in good order.  The blade with good polished finish, and free from pitting. The scabbard shell with  approximately 20/30% black paint finish remaining. The sword in uncleaned condition.

Note: Before the SS Officer sword (degen) was introduced in 1936, officers were allowed to carry any sword, but with silvered fittings as opposed to the golden fittings carried by army officers.

Additional notes: This style of silver-hilt sword is known to have been manufactured by E.Pack & Sohne for SS Officers. The same style with heavy oakleaves decoration, had either a Panther head, or an oakleaves top (as per this one). See Exploring The SS daggers & Swords of the German-SS page 320.
