The Waffen-SS peak visor cap retains dull silvered base metal quality eagle & swastika and skull badges, along with silver capcords, and matching side buttons, (dulled silver over base metal)

The peak visor is lined in a light beige cotton (celluliod diamond missing  - possibly  removed by the wearer taking into account the age and use to the lining). The lining is finished with a brown ersatz sweatband (showing overall wear and some breaking in places).

The cap shows light combat use only (sweatband showing most use and slight age related breaking in a few places).

Note: The regulation concerning the wearing of peak visor caps with unit Waffenfarbe by the Waffen-SS was somewhat confused at the time. However, the general consensus confirms peak visor caps purchased with piping (other than white for OR/NCO & Officers) was restricted to the beginning of the 1940s.

The purchase of peak visor caps with coloured piping would certainly have ceased by 1943. Caps purchased up to this date may have continued to be worn throughout the war years, and in contradiction to regulations.
