Fantastic Provenance

M42 Heer single decal helmet, repurposed for the Waffen-SS and decalled with a set of CA Pocher Runic and party shields. Typical dark green rough finish paint. The interior retains its leather liner and chinstrap. An ink dome stamp is faint, but visible. The helmet stamped with ckl 66, and a batch number of ‘2814’. The original Heer eagle decal was factory lacquered to the helmet, and then when repurposed, the Waffen-SS decals were factory applied, but without lacquer. As such service wear has taken away a lot of the swastika decal, with the Heer eagle decal now showing through in places.

Condition report: The helmet survives in very good towards excellent condition. Completely untouched, and in ‘as found’ condition. Approximately 90 – 95% dark green finish remaining. The Runes decal with 90% remaining. The Party decal with 60% remaining, along with 40% of the Heer eagle decal showing through from underneath. The helmet liner untouched and remaining in excellent condition. The chinstrap remaining supple.

Provenance: This helmet was acquired by the USA-based SS helmet specialist, Kelly Hicks, directly from the grandson of the US W.W.II veteran, Major Arther Mearns. According to Mearn's grandson, it is believed his grandfather brought the helmet back from the Normady area as a war souvenir. One European collection since.
