 Lion head hilt, and with a large national emblem - A collectors dream


The sword manufactured by the known maker of SS silver-hilts, P.D.Luneschloss, Solingen. The sword with  heavy silvered oakleave hilt assembly, and with lion head top. The lion head with fine ruby stone eyes. The obverse of the crossguard with a large raised NSDAP style eagle / swastika. Reverse of the hilt with a shield shaped silver langet (this bearing the owner's initials 'F.B'.). The polished black grip with silver wire bands. To the underneath of the crossguard, the engraved SS membership number '10, 534'. The polished steel blade with Luneschloss name and logo. The scabbard with black painted shell. 

Condition report: The sword  in overall very good towards excellent condition. The grip free from  splits or other damage, and the silver wire bands tight. The silvered hilt in good order.  The blade with good polished finish, and free from pitting. The scabbard shell with  approximately 80% black paint finish remaining. 

Note: Before the SS Officer sword (degen) was introduced in 1936, officers were allowed to carry any sword, but with silvered fittings as opposed to the golden fittings carried by army officers.
