This beautiful Kriegsmarine Officer dagger 'full-set' is truly the Holy Grail of edged weapon collecting. Scarce maker, deep orange grip, hammered scabbard, and sailing ship blade. It doesn't get a lot better.

 

The Kriegsmarine dagger for sale by F.W.Holler, Solingen. The dagger with a beautiful deep orange grip with wire binding. gilt over brass eagle/swastika pommel and anchors  bottom crossguard. The blade double-etched with sailing ships design.  Hammered scabbard. The dagger complete with a fine golden portepee, golden buckle hanging straps, belt, and dark blue storge bag.

Condition report: the dagger surviving in excellent overall condition. The grip free from cracks or damage. Binding remaining tight. The orange grip with a pleasant lustre. Some gilt loss to the pommel and lower crossguard (about 60% remaining). The golden portepee free from any major fraying, correctly tied and with a pleasant patination. The blade free from pitting or graying. 98% polished finish and clean and sharp etched panels. Hammered scabbard with about 70% gilt remaining (main loss to the high points only). The scabbard wihtout any major dents or other damage. Nice smooth action inserting and removing the dagger from the scabbard.

Hangers in corresponding condition as the dagger. About 70% gilt remaining (main loss yo the high points). The blue cloth  and leather belt in clean condition showing light use. The dark blue wool storage bag with dark blue leather reenforcer to the base, and zipper top. A couple of minor moth nips, otherwise clean.

Provenance: Originating from the Stewart Wilson collection. Acquired for the Davis German Navy collection in 2007.
