Allgemeine-SS General Rank Visor Cap

Designed by the great German fashion designer, Hugo Boss, the Allgemeine-SS uniform undoubtedly remains his most controversial fashion contract to date. This general rank visor cap stands as an iconic piece, either as a single statement item, or as a part of a larger collection.

The General Rank, Allgemeine-SS visor cap bearing all the attributes of a cap made in the late 1930s including high-fronted saddle-shape, and the nickel-silver M1936 eagle, swastika and skull badge insignia. The cap made from the premium black wool doeskin, with silver-aluminium piping and black velvet capband. The nickle-silver  eagle, swastika and skull badge insignia are neatly positioned and firm.

Silver-aluminium capcords secured by nickel-silver, pebble-finish side buttons. The visor cap  lined in ‘Standard Quality’ black silk, with a full celluliod diamond. The mid-beige leather sweatband hides the linen RZM/SS label  with the maker code number ‘195.' The underside finished in medium brown, and also with the RZM/SS black trademark.

Size: 59

Condition report: The SS cap in overall very good to excellent condition, and free from any moth or damage. The nickel-silver insignia  toned with age, and uncleaned. The visor with faint age-related lines. The lining showing light use, the celluliod diamond intact. The mid-beige leather free from splits or other damage, and showing light use.

Provenance: From a major  USA-based collection. Acquired for the collection in 1984.
