A document for sale hand-signed by Reichsführer-SS Himmler. The document on the early Reichsführer-SS letter heading, hand-signed in ink by Heinrich Himmler, and dated 3rd December 1934.

Content: The Himmler-signed document relates to the notable German landscape architect, Wilhelm Hübotter and the Sachsenahin  Memorial (Grove of the Saxons), commissioned by Himmler to commemorate the massacre of 4,500 Saxons by Charlemagne's forces in 782. In the document, Himmler extends permission to  Hübotter  to negotiate all matters relating to the building of the Sachsenhain.

Note: The massacre is believed to have taken place when the captives (remaining true to their pagan beliefs), refused to be Christianised by their captors. Himmler commissioned Hübotter to design a memorial (built in 1935), to the Saxons. Further to its completion,  the memorial was used by the SS for annual commemorations.

Condition report: Some folds, a couple of small splits, plus a single, old repair.

Note: an important document crossing the boundaries of theology and architecture in general, and relating to Himmler's interest in creating an SS Religion in particular.
