A Kriegsmarine watch for sale with impeccable provenance, made by Festa. The WW2, German Kriegsmarine watch with fine, silvered-dial bearing the 'KM' designation, and '720' Festa number. The watch with its brown leather strap and nickle-silver buckle.
The solid brass watch case with a polished silver finish. Reverse with steel screw on case-back, and issue number '149 014.' The earlier issue number with good deep impressing to the case-back. 15-jewel movement by Festa, and marked 'Festa 720' to the main bridge. The inside to the screw-back marked 'Festa Rostfrei Stahlboden.'
Condition report: Dial in excellent condition free from any significant marks, stains or damage. Case in overall excellent condition. Winder original. The watch with its original brown leather strap and nickle-silver buckle, the leather showing some overall wear. Movement in excellent overall condition for its age, with original Geneva-Stripes finish to the bridges. Fully functioning and recently serviced.*
Provenance: This watch was brought back to England in 1945 by Private James Hollingsworth, Kings Shropshire Light Infantry. The sale includes supporting documentation from Private James Hollingsworth's son.
