Rare SS Signature for sale. General Ernst Kaltenbrunner Signature: full 'Beförderungsvorschlag' headed paper. Document dated 6.3.1939. Typed document with written notations. Good ink signature, E. Kaltenbrunner. Full SS-Oberabschnitt Donau eagle & swastika ink stamp.

Content: Promotion of Polizei-major Johann Macek to SS-Sturmbannführer.

Condition report: Two slight folds. Two files holes. Otherwise clean. Free from fading.

Background to Kaltenbrunner: Born 4 October 1903 [Austria]. Died 16 October 1946. The son of a lawyer, and senior official of Nazi Germany during WW2. Promoted to the rank of SS-Obergruppenführer. Between January 1943 and May 1945, Kaltenbrunner held the offices of Chief of the Reich Main Security Office (Reichssicherheitshauptamt; RSHA).

Nuremburg Trials:  Kaltenbrunner was the highest-ranking member of the SS to face trial at the first Nuremberg Trials. Further to being found guilty of war crimes [Count 3], and crimes against humanity [Count 4], he was executed.
