A WW2, military 'Aeroplane' watch for sale. The 1940s,vintage military watch, being typically worn by British Army and RAF officers during WW2.
Chrome-over-brass case with integral lugs. Off-white dial with 1-12 hour digits. Subsidiary seconds at the 18.00hrs. The dial marked 'Waterproof' and 'Shock Proof.' The press-fit case-back impressed with the Swiss 'Cross,' along with the 'BREVET' name and Brevet number 155825, plus the watch serial number. The 15- jewel movement with Geneve stripes. The WW2 military watch retaining the correct brown leather strap with 'Stremline' deployment clasp.
Condition report: Case clean with just light use showing. Dial perfect, with pleasant patination. Cathedral hands close to perfect. case-back generally clean and free from adverse scratches. The brown leather watch strap and deploymant clasp both 'period'. Movement clean and working. No warranty implied.
Note: The Swiss 'Aeroplane' watches made under Brevet 155825, were particularly 'rugged' - a characteristic which appealed to officers in the British armed forces: The Brevet watches were also water- and shock proof, and as such, made an ideal combat timepiece. The designation 'Aeroplane' is assigned to the dial on some Brevet 155825 watches; most are simply marked 'Waterproof', 'Shockproof.'
