Waffen-SS 'Old Style' Senior NCO Cloth Visor Cap for sale. The cap in good quality field-grey wool, along with a black wool capband and white piping. The visor in so-called 'Old Style' form, and covered in field-grey wool. The exterior retains an aluminium eagle/swastika and skull insignias.

The cap is lined in a mid-brown ribbed silk with a full celluloid diamond to the centre. The  sweatband is in a mid to dark leather. Within the celluloid diamond is a silk woven name tag with the name 'Spellmeyer' in red. Size: 57

Condition report: The cap is a light service used example. The exterior is in overall excellent condition (a couple of minute moth tracks evident).The SS cap insignia showing just light use. The underside of the cloth visor showing a couple of moth tracks, and discolouration from service use. The cap lining  clean, as is the leather sweatband. The celluloid diamond is intact and the owner's name clear.

Provenance: Acquired for the Caravano Collection in the 1980s. One collection since.

Notes: The so-called 'Old Style' cap was designated for wear by senior NCOs and officers. Becoming available for wear around 1938/39, by 1942 they were withdrawn. Some NCOs and officers continued to wear them after 1942.
