A stunning example of the SS 1933 pattern service dagger with full Himmler dedication. Undoubtedly one of the very best condition examples available in the market place.

SS Himmler dagger for sale manufactured typically by Eickhorn. The SS dagger with black ebony grip. The grip with inset enamel Runes and eagle/swastika motifs. Typically solid nickel-silver mounts throughout.

The lower crossguard to the dagger bearing the Eickhorn benchmark number '0', and as is often the case, void of a gruppe stamping. Both upper and lower cross guards with the Eickhorn 'AR' cast marks to the insides. The blade with SS motto to the obverse, along with the full Himmler dedication to the reverse, along with the Eickhorn 'small cartouche' logo. The scabbard with black anodised & lacquer finish. Nickel-silver upper and lower mounts. The dagger complete with leather hanging strap.

Condition report: The grip remaining in excellent towards near mint condition. The SS Runes eye in clean condition, and the black enamel intact, and free from chips. The nickel-silver eagle clean, nicely fitted, and very crisp. The nickel-silver mounts clean, having been lightly polished. Nice fit of grip to crossguards. The dagger blade retaining 98% original polish and crossgrain, and the finely etched, Himmler dedication remains 100% clear, along with the SS motto. The blade bears the small Eickhorn, maker cartouche, which remains clear and sharp (a couple of minor blemishes to the reverse of the blade that look to be from contact points with the scabbard runners).

The SS dagger scabbard retaining 99% of the black anodised finish, along (unusually) with most of the lacquer layer (95%). The upper and lower scabbard mounts in excellent condition. The bottom ball in perfect condition , free from dents. All screws clean and looking unmolested. The leather hanger with a nice bright black polished appearance. The leather remaining supple. Spring clip functioning. The dagger with a particulally delightful glide in and out of the scabbard.

Provenance: Acquired from Thomas Johnson (USA) during the 1980s for the Douglas Pratt Collection. Remaining in his collection until sold by ULRIC of ENGLAND in 2019.One collection since. The dagger still contained within a Thomas Johnson zipper storage bag.
