Provenance back to the 1970s

 

Panzer Oberstleutnant's black Wrapover Jacket for sale, complete with trousers. The black wool wrapover with slip-on style epaulettes with entwined silver braids on pink wool, and with a single bronzed pip to each. The machine-sewn collar patches in black, with pink wool edge piping, and with silver-aluminiu8m skull motifs to each. The collar edged in pink wool. The breast eagle/swastika machine-woven in silver-aluminium bullion wires on black. The wrapover complete with all correct buttons. Loops for two awards. Russian Front ribbon sewn into position. The wrapover with typical half lining in grey/tan rayon. Full manufacturer stampings to the inside lining. The lining also unit marked 8./PZ.R.3

Condition report: The wrapover in excellent overall condition, showing just very light use around the top of the collar. Complete with originally-attached insignia. Free from moth or damage. Some fraying to the award loops.

Provenance: Acquired by the UK-based collector Ken Green, from the well-known author, Brian Davis, during the 1970s. The panzer wrapover photographed and detailed within the Osprey publication, The Panzer Divisions by Martin Windrow & Richard Hook (pages 16, 17, 18,19). Acquired from Green for the Richard Dudley collection at the beginning of the 1990s, and remaining in that collection to date.
