The last officially recognised Gau badge to be institited

Fine mercuric gilt closed-winged eagle/swastika within an oakleaves wreath. At the base of the wreath the Sudetenland tri-colour in glass enamel (black/red/black), along with the date 1938. The reverse has the typical small dome rivets holding the eagle to the wreath. Vertical flat pin assembly with bottom integral hook.

Condition: Overall very good to excellent condition. Just light patination to the silver  on the obverse and reverse. The mercuric gilt with approximately 85% remaining. Some slight age bubbling visible to the reverse.

Notes: Instituted by the Sudetenland Gauleiter Konrad Henlein in Christmas 1943, with the first awards being made at that time. 

Provenance: Militärische Antiquitäten Weitze, Hamburg, Germany. Acquired for the Collection Lionello during 1995.
