Gebirgsjager (Mountain Troop) Officers visor cap by Pekuro

From the Richard De Fillipi collection

Gebirgsjager (Mountain Troop) visor cap made by the prestigious firm of Pekuro. The cap with a fine field-grey doeskin crown, dark green wool cap-band, and vivid green piping. The visor cap with  a beautiful silver-aluminium quality eagle & swastika, and matching oak leaves with 'proud' cockade. A Gebirgsjager ‘Edelweiss’ emblem mounted between the insignia.

The lining  in finest golden silk, and full celluloid diamond bearing the silver-blocked Pekuro trademark. A small paper size ‘55’ label slipped within the diamond. The light tan leather sweatband has the ventilated front black velvet edge finishing. Behind the sweatband, and additional ink size stamp ‘55’. Also behind the sweatband, a small inked ‘R.F’ (Richard De Filippi), along with a small white attached label ‘Collection De Filippi’.

Condition report: The visor cap remaining in overall excellent to near mint condition, with a beautiful high front exterior shape. The light field-grey doeskin material free from moth holes or other damage. The piping unfaded. The insignia clean and bright. The lining clean with a perfect celluloid diamond. The sweatband clean and supple. A typical De Fillipi cardboard cap stiffener still in place.

Provenance: Acquired for the Richard De Fillipi collection in the early 1970s. The cap photographed within De Fillipi’s 1980 publication, Les Coiffures Militaires Du Troiseme Reich, page 96. Purchased from De Fillipi for the UK-based Pollock collection in1983, and then one collection from 1997 until consigned to ULRIC of ENGLAND in 2019.
