A silver crossbelt plate for sale. The Waterloo period crossbelt plate, originally to the 5th Battalion, 60th Regiment of Foot (Rifles).

The crossbelt plate is in very good overall condition, complete with  fitting lugs to the reverse.  Excavation signs evident: see provenance.

Provenance: This particular crossbelt  plate was discovered with a metal detector on the southern slopes of the Pyrennes, just below the Col de Lessessa.The 5th Battalion, 60th Regiment of Foot were fighting in this area during the Battle of the Pyrenees (summer 1813). The crossbelt plate was possibly lost, or from a soldier with the 5th Battalion. The plate is in very good condition and complete with its typical back fittings.
