Individuals serving in the Third Reich were obliged to purchase a complete 'working wardrobe'- the clothes including tunics, trousers and headgear, forming the obligatory 'uniform.' Capes did not form part of the obligatory wardrobe stable. Furthermore since capes  were comparatively expensive, they were invariably only affordable -and therefore purchased- by wealthy officers [possibly keen to  demonstrate their wealth, sartorial elegance - and power].

The WW2 Luftwaffe General cape for sale made in field-blue doeskin cloth, with typical gold coloured pebble buttons fly-front, mercuric gilt eagle head fasteners and gold coloured chain. To the left side the large hand-embroidered golden wire Luftwaffe eagle/swastika.

To the inside;the half-lining in blue silk, the Anton Kinting, [Bad Aachen], tailor's label sewn to the upper-centre.

Condition report: Close to mint condition, with light ageing to the gold-wire eagle.

Notes: Anton Kinting was a highly-regarded tailoring house based in Bad Aachen, Germany.  The Luftwaffe Cape is a fine example of Kinting's tailoring skill.
