A Luftwaffe Observer watch for sale made by Wempe for the German Ministry of Aviation, (RLM), circa 1939/40.

The Luftwaffe watch with first-pattern dial with polished metal case. The case with snap-on back-plate with serial number '742' and 'FL 23883' contract number to the side.

The inside to the case-back with  'Wempe'  designation. Large-style, replacement strap.

The Wempe movement with  mercuric gilt bridges throughout. Polished steel wheel bears the 'GERHD WEMPE' maker name. K.31, calibre designation to the lower plate by the escapement.

Condition report: Case in good condition, showing signs of 'mission use,' especially to the case-back, which has some brass base metal showing.

The first patern dial in excellent condition, with luminous battons and numbers clear. Plexi-glass showing light use but in overall good condition free from adverse  cracks or scratches.

The movement particularly clean and functioning. No warranty implied.
