Gold Party Badge for sale. The 30.5mm 'military pin' Gold Party Badge awarded to SS-Sturmbannführer Hans Fritz Sohns and bearing the low issue number '10 820'.

The red enamel  to the obverse  being  translucent and over a particularly fine, engine-turned base. The outer border with golden oakleaves. The reverse  with fine military pin. Vertical flat narrow style pin assembly. The main disc with the cartouche bearing raised 'Ges Gesch' designation, central horizontal cut in with centre air hole. Impressed membership number '10 820' to the lower section.

Condition report: The Gold Party Badge in overall very good condition. Showing obvious signs of field use. Small enamel chip to upper left edge. Various small surface scratches to the enamel indicative of field wear. Loss of mercuric gilt finish to all the high points. Reverse in very good condition. The pin assembly functioning. Approximately 50% mercuric gilt finish present.

Background to SS-Sturmbannführer Hans Fritz Sohns: Born on 15th September 1907, Sohns joined the NSDAP in 1925 with membership number 10 820, and the SS with SS membership number '107 396'. Sohns also took part in the 9th November 1923 Putsch, and was awarded the 1st Pattern Blood Order number 1125. Within the SS, he worked within the Rasse-u-Siedlungs Hauptamt (Race & Settlement Head Office), which led him to be held responisble for war crimes at the end of the war.

Provenance: Ray Zyla | Mowhawk Militaria Auction 1993. Acquired for the famous Moses collection of Blood Order material at that time, and in one collection before being consigned to us.
