Cold War cool

Black dial, 230 Valjoux movement, Tritium luminosity,

overall excellent condition.

 

Bundeswehr Heuer chronograph for sale . The double-button, 1960s 'Cold War' chronograph, with stainless-steel case, revolving milled bezel. Black dial with digits 1-12, 60-second, and 30-minute subsidiary counters. The Heuer trademark just beneath the number '12.'  The letter 'T (Tritium luminosity)  above the number '6.'

Reverse with typical case-back fitted with four small screws. The case-back bearing the designation, 'BUNDESWEHR 6645-12-146-3774.' The 230 Valjoux movement with hacking seconds facility. The original black leather strap impressed to the reverse, '6645-12-145-6415 BUND.'

Condition report: Case in excellent condition, free from damage. The pushers correct and showing light use, similar light wear to the revolving bezel and winding crown.

Black dial in perfect condition with pleasant patina. Case-back excellent condition, the designation remaining clear. The movement working. The chronograph working correctly. The hacking-seconds facility working. No warranty implied.

Note: Bundeswehr Heuer chronographs were introduced directly after WW2. The timepieces were initially branded Leonidas, and thereafter Heuer-Leonidas. By the 1960s, the brand name was simplified to  Heuer.
