Luftwaffe pilot's flight bag & contents for sale. A wartime Luftwaffe NCO's flight bag containing the following flight-kit:

The NCO flight section visor cap with metal alumnium eagle & swastika, and oakleaves/cockade insignia. The one piece flying suit in summer style clothl and complete with all zips and buttons. The flying helmet, matching the suit, and with a woven silk maker label,  'Karl Heisler Berlin.' The headset with sprung metal top, bakelite ear phones,  leads and jack plugs. The one piece Luftwaffe overalls complete with buttons. The tin container bearing the flyer's name 'Obergefreiten Edgar Schmidt',  Luftwaffe squadron address outside Gratz and Schmidt's home address in Hamburg.

The brown leather flight bag  with a full cotton liningr. The bag with a metal support to the top, with two metal clips at the ends to fasten, along with a central fastener and  brown leather- wrapped handle. The centre fastening with maker-name, 'Leder-Schuler Hamburg.'

Condition report: The NCO flight section visor cap in heavily used condition. The visor loose, the oakleaves attached one side with an external rivet. The lining grubby, the sweatband loose etc. The neckerchief in clean condition and free from repairs. The one-piece flying suit in generally clean condition, but with a couple of old 'field' repairs. Zips working but stiff The flying helmet, matching the suit, and in generally clean condition without repairs. The headset showing just general light use. Some paint loss to the earphones. The one-piece Luftwaffe overalls complete and generally clean. The tin container clean and free from rust. Name and addresses clear. The flyer's bag showing much general use. A couple of tears to the leather sides. The fastenings working. The bag opens and closes reasonably well with the metal construction.

Provenance: The Luftwaffe pilot's kit-bag with contents was discovered in an attic of a house in Germany during a house clearance. It was purchased by a German corporate businessman, because he knew that one of the British representatives of the same company was interested in wartime military memorabilia. The bag with contents was duly given over as a gift after a company meeting when both individuals were present. The bag and contents was later sold by Ulric of England.

Note: Based on the fact  both Edgar Schmidt's home - and squadron address are included, further research should be possible.
