Kriegsmarine Deck watch for sale made by the prestigious firm of  Lange & Söhne. The watch with silver metal case, chromed metal loop and crown. The silvered dial with 1-12 hour digits, sunken subsidiary power-reserve register, and 60-second register. The case-back (press fit) bearing the Kriegsmarine 'M' number (M 17280), and work number (204794). Along with the eagle & swastika motif.

The outer case-back removes to expose an inner hinged movement protector. This engraved with the names for Lange & Söhne, and Andreas Huber, (who undertook the final-finishing to this timepiece). The movement with brass-bridges and swan-neck regulation. The movement with corresponding movement-numbers.

Condition report: The case surviving in excellent overall condition. Typical scratch marks on the opening edge as expected. Otherwise, case free from any adverse damage. A pleasant age darkening to the case still evident. The dial remaining perfect with 100% satin silvered finish remaining, and clear black enamel numbers. The hands with perfect blued finish. The sunken subsidiary dials with machine-turned finish remaining perfect. The case-back with  the original eagle & swastika in  clear form, along with both the Lange serial number, and the Kriegsmarine 'M' number. The movement in excellent condition, and recently fully serviced. Fully working.

Provenance: Full Lange & Söhne certificate of origin included in the sale. The certificate confirming the date of sale from Lange to the Deutsche Seewarte (Kriegsmarine) as 9th May 1944. Also included in the sale a copy of the original invoice  from Lange to the Kriegsmarine. The watch was brought back to England at the end of the war by a serving member of the British armed forces. The watch has been retained by the family until now.
