November  Highlights

Collecting History

Stand-Alone relics of Hitler's 9th November 1923 Putsch

The Blood Order show-cased for sale  this month is one of several star-quality German awards recently consigned from a  small- albeit carefully curated- German medal collection. ULRIC of ENGLAND  also presents a cased 1st Pattern Blood Order from the same collection. Other highlights include a 1923 Hitler Putsch windjacket, and a Blood Order Plaque.

The Blood Order award is one of the most historical awards desired by collectors today. In addition to being a rare 1st pattern example, this award has the exceptionally low number '6'. Blood Order number '6' was issued to Dr.Emil Ketterer who was a part of the ultra-right-wing Reichskriegsflagge unit at the time of the 9th November Putsch. Ketterer; a medical doctor by profession; later became an SA-Obergruppenführer and was heavily involved in the Nazi euthanasia scheme).

Of museum importance, we offer a 1923 Hitler Putsch windjacket as a part of our November highlights. This windjacket was worn at the ill-fated 9th November Putsch by a member of the 9th Hundertschaft. The windjacket is well worn, and shows a wonderful sence of age. It is history speaking to you. An item of historical importance, no doubt destined for a public or private museum.

Beautifully finished in bronze, the Blood Order Plaque is an item of great rarity. Although every Blood Order recipient had the right to purchase the Blood Order Plaque, it would seem few did. Perhaps it was too costly for most recipients of this award. The Blood Order Plaque would certainly complement a specialised collection, or serve as a stand-alone 'masterpiece.'
