Museum-Quality Standards Welcome In The New Year

We're delighted to announce three museum-quality objects for the New Year: an Allach porcelain Fencer, Allgemeine-SS Officer Visor Cap, and an NSDAP Gauleiter’s brownshirt.

The Fencer, mande by the SS-run company, Allach Porcelain, was designed by Ottmar Obermaier. The figure was particularly liked by SS General Reinhard Heydrich, on account of the subject matter (Heydrich being a master fencer). Less than 500 pieces are believed to have been made between 1938-1945: less than thirty are believed to survive today.

The Allgemeine-SS Officer Visor Cap is named to a doctor with the Race & Resettlement Head Office. The cap is typical late 1930s manufacture, with a high-fronted saddle shape, and benefiting from the later M1936 eagle/swastika and skull badge insignia. Examplary quality, the SS Visor readily meets museum quality designation.

The NSDAP Gauleiter brown shirt circa 1934,  bears the full Gauleiter golden wire collar patch insignia, has a fine quality armband, and an interesting ‘rising swastika’ maker-label. With less than fifty Gauleiters at the time, and few  uniforms of that rank surviving  today, the NSDAP brown shirt  is an  exceptionally scarce, and historic piece meeting - if not exceeding- rigorous  museum-quality standards.
